Implementation and Use of Technology
The firm utilizes an integrated “front” and “back” office suite called ProLaw. ProLaw permits us to create and maintain electronic files on our work in progress. Those files include all discovery requests and responses, scanned information (which can be run through in-house OCR programs), emails and correspondence. Moreover, clients can be given access to their pending matters through a secure portal, which enhances collaborative efforts. Finally, ProLaw functions as a searchable database of all our briefs, memoranda and research materials, and effectively constitutes a very broad and deep knowledge base which can be brought to bear on behalf of all our clients.
We also use a variety of litigation programs, including the Case series (i.e., Case Map, Note Map, etc.) and Summation. Our desktop user platform is Microsoft XP and our core front office software is the Microsoft 2003 suite.
Our hardware is also kept up to date. Our five servers are maintained in a separate computer room and are Raid enabled, as well as subject to methodical tape backups. The servers and individual desktop units, portable computers and computer peripherals are replaced on a rotating schedule to assure maximum reliability and increasing functionality.
We use a Cisco IP phone system with a unitary mailbox, allowing our attorneys who are traveling to readily access their emails, voicemail and faxes. In addition, our attorneys are always accessible by cellular phone and/or Blackberry PDA.
Our new conference room is multi-media enabled, permitting more effective witness and trial preparation as well as individualized training and other presentations.
Finally, we use technology consultants with specific experience in the legal profession to assure that we remain ahead-of-the-curve on our use of technology and still maintain the most stable and user friendly systems. This allows our clients to obtain the benefits of modern technology in a thoughtful and efficient manner.
