Gary L. Simpler joined the Firm after serving as an investigator and hearing officer with the 5th Region of the National Labor Relations Board. Since joining the Firm, he has represented employers nationally with respect to labor and employment law claims. He represents management in successfully responding to union organizational efforts, defends charges before the National Labor Relations Board, serves as chief negotiator for management in collective bargaining negotiations, represents management in arbitration proceedings, and represents management in regard to plant closings and relocations. He has also been successful in overturning a decision of the NLRB in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit for Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center.

Apart from practicing traditional labor law, Gary has extensive experience in representing management with respect to employment claims, including charges of discrimination, sexual harassment, and wage and hour issues. While representing clients in many industries, Gary has particular expertise with the healthcare, higher education, and manufacturing industries.

Gary serves as the firm’s representative to the Employment Law Alliance, a world-wide coalition of preeminent labor and employment law firms serving the need of multi-state and multi-national corporations.

Gary has participated in seminars on both a state and national level, such as his presentation, "Protecting Rights to Participate in Decision Making Through Employee Involvement Committees," at a seminar sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration. He is also a contributing author to The Employment Law Deskbook and NLRA Law & Practice, both published by Matthew Bender, and a co-author of "Knocking Out Drugs in the Workplace" and "Antidrug Rules and Regulations."
