For over 30 years, Arthur M. Brewer has represented management in a broad range of industries, with particular expertise in manufacturing and agricultural industry issues. Art has extensive experience in all aspects of labor law, with a strong emphasis on the litigation of labor disputes. In 1992, Art litigated a case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on behalf of Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center, where he prevailed in having a petition for review granted and a decision of the NLRB set aside. Art serves as the chief negotiator for the Delmarva Poultry Association in its collective bargaining negotiations with the Teamsters Union and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. In addition to his labor expertise, Art has represented and advised clients in a wide variety of employment matters. He has defended major clients against claims of race, age, disability, and sex discrimination. He has also handled claims arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act before the Department of Labor and in the courts.Art has participated in seminars on both a state and national level, including a seminar sponsored by the American Arbitration Association on case preparation and presentation. He has also authored numerous articles, including "Title VII: How to Break the Law Without Really Trying," and "The Non-neutral Employer and Section 10(k) of National Labor Relations Act." Art is a contributing editor of The Employment Law Deskbook, published by Matthew Bender. Before joining the firm in 1972, Art served in Vietnam as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Art was also a legal assistant to the National Laobr Relations Board's Division of Administrative Law Judges.
